Rolex Daytona Watch- The Inside Story

The Rolex Daytona is a watch unwanted and unloved but the watch with a story of zero to hero. If you are out of budget or want to save your money then Swiss Replica Rolex Daytona is a good choice for you. Rolex Daytona is one of the most wanted watches of all times with its astonishing features. The question is how an unwanted became such successive timepiece? Let’s reveal the hidden truth behind the success story of Rolex Daytona.

The sixties decade is known for sports chronograph. Jack Heuer was appointed as the CEO of Heuer which guided the production of Autavia and Carrera in 1962 and 1963 respectively. Omega Speedmaster was the first in this game that was introduced in the late fifties. The chronograph was not a new invention because it was also present in Louis Moinet’s astronomical pocket watch in 1816. It was also found in twentieth century smaller wristwatch form. Rolex was making chronograph timepieces since the 1930s. It was Sixties when the glamour and wealth came with speed. Motor racing was an enjoyable and exciting game on a global scale and convinced the new breed of timekeepers: the sports chronograph. The chronograph watches of Rolex were styled with subtle taste, reserved but they were not appropriate for the world’s fastest racing machines. Jack Heuer was aware about what he was doing and he gave a task to his friend, a racing driver Jo Siffert to circulate his watches amongst the paddock. It earned him the title of first non-motorsport sponsor in F1. However it was Omega that took aim on even faster machinery and also became the official watch of NASA.

In 1963, Rolex produced its first chronograph with reference no, 6239 and the new chronograph was named “Cosmograph”. Just like Omega Speedmaster, the watch was large, clear, and tough and had all the features to be used in space. The move was excellent by Rolex because in fifties Rolex was known for producing professional watches like GMT-Master, Submariner and Milgauss. But Rolex Daytona didn’t prove itself during NASA testing. The company needed to regroup after missing a big chance. The history of NASCAR is well known publically. The sport get incredibly popular in that time and Rolex-sponsored drivers such as Junior Johnson used to draw crown from across Florida. The demand to build the Daytona International Speedway was enough and Rolex rebranded the Cosmograph in new direction. Now we have the perfect Cosmograph Daytona made especially for professional car racing drivers.
